The family of the young woman who underwent plastic surgery after an alleged glassing on a night out at the pub have spoken out in the hope that no other young Aussie will go through a similar harrowing ordeal. 

Taiya Sampson, 20, sustained serious facial injuries when she was allegedly attacked at The Landing in Alkimos, a coastal suburb in Perth on Friday night.

Police allege an argument broke out before it escalated when a 20-year-old woman allegedly struck Ms Sampson in the face with a wine glass.

She suffered a deep gash on her cheek and needed stitches in her forehead.

Ms Sampson also needed plastic surgery to repair the facial damage, which included a 5cm wound that just missed her right eye.

Maria Sampson has given an update on her daughter, who is now too scared to leave the house.

The mother claimed that Taiya had not been drinking on the night and that the alleged attack was unprovoked.

‘It’s devastating. It’s just changed the course of her life going forward,’ Mrs Sampson told The West Australian reported.

‘I just don’t understand how someone, especially another girl of her age that knows they’re so cautious about the way they look, could do that.’

The family also claimed that pub staff didn’t call an ambulance for Taiya and that alleged attacker was allowed to stay at the venue. Nine News reported.

The venue has since disputed that claims.

A woman from Two Rocks was charged with unlawful wounding over the incident and appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday. 

She was bailed to reappear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on September 4.

Police allege the two women were known to each other.

Ms Sampson has vowed to seek justice for her daughter. 

‘I think the system needs to change. I think they need to be protective more of the person who has been attacked,’ she said.
