The father of tragic Southport stabbing victim Elsie Dot Stancombe has told colleagues how the seven-year-old ‘lit up every room she entered’.

Postal worker David Stancombe was quoted in an article for fellow Royal Mail staff, which said: ‘David would like his Royal Mail family to know just how wonderful a little girl and loving daughter Elsie was.

‘[The family] shared with us that she was the most polite young girl you could ever meet and was loved by everyone – she lit up every room she entered. Elsie was chosen to be a part of every single school play and was also a member of the school council.’

The tribute piece continued: ‘David and Jenni are a private family and don’t want a lot of attention – but they would like to keep Elsie’s name and memories alive by supporting the nursery she attended.’

The family also revealed how their daughter’s nursery was renaming their garden ‘Elsie’s Place’ in a touching tribute. They hope to use donations to upgrade it into a space where children can learn to grow their own vegetables.

Bebe King, six, Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, also died following the incident on July 29, while 10 others were also injured at the Taylor Swift-themed dance class.

Last Sunday, hundreds lined the streets of Southport to remember Alice.

Devastated mourners gathered at St Patrick’s Church for the funeral of Alice — described as a ‘princess’ by her heartbroken family.

The little girl’s parents Sergio and Alexandra were joined by friends and relatives, as well as Serena Kennedy, Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, and uniformed officers from the police, ambulance and fire services.

The grieving crowd could be seen carrying flowers and pink balloons and were dressed in light colours.

A white coffin decorated with pink roses was carried into the church for the funeral. Pink ribbons and balloons were tied to lampposts and garden walls.

Axel Rudakubana, 17, has been charged with three counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder.
