A 70-year-old driver has been charged following the death of a baby girl in her pushchair outside a hospital last year.

Bridget Carole Curtis has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after eight-month-old Mabli Cariad Hall was hit by a car outside Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshire last June

‘Smiley and happy’ Mabli was being put into her pushchair by her father, Rob Hall, when she suffered severe head injuries due to the accident.

She was airlifted 100 miles to another hospital for specialist treatment after the horror crash but died days later in the early hours of June 25.

The driver and another pedestrian were also hurt in the ‘tragic accident’ close to the entrance of the hospital in Haverfordwest, Wales.

Dyfed-Powys Police said: ‘A woman has been charged following the death of a baby in a collision outside Withybush General Hospital last year.

‘Bridget Carole Curtis, aged 70, of Begelly, has been charged with causing the death of eight-month-old Mabli Cariad Hall (pictured) by driving dangerously on June 21, 2023.

‘She will appear at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court next month.’

Friends said the eight-month-old, who was the youngest of six siblings, was the ‘most beautiful, smiley and happy baby girl’.

On a fundraising page, Sinead Morgan said: ‘Little Mabli sustained severe injuries in the collision that took place on Wednesday, June 21 2023. Unfortunately, these injuries were too severe to be reversed.

‘Despite days of immense strength from Mabli, she peacefully crossed over the rainbow bridge in the loving arms of Gwen and Rob.’

Describing the crash, she said: ‘In a tragic accident, Mabli Hall while being put back into her pushchair by her dad Rob, was involved in a collision with a car.

‘As a result, Mabli sustained a severe head injury and was rendered unconscious, necessitating immediate medical attention.’

The month after the incident, Mabli’s funeral was held at Noddfa Newydd Baptist Church in Tonna, where a hand-drawn butterfly and other items in tribute to Mabli could be seen attached outside.

Relatives wore purple ribbons which read ‘Rhy berffaith i’r byd ‘ma’ which translates into English as ‘Too perfect for this world’.

Others in attendance wore an item of purple and lilac-coloured clothing, including ties, dresses, blazers and scarves in tribute to Mabli’s favourite colour.

The church hall was filled to capacity whilst even more people gathered outside as the service was played over a speaker system.
