- The number of passengers amount to more than half Fowey’s 2,315 population

This is the moment a massive cruise ship powers into a tiny Cornish port, dwarfing little yachts at anchor.
The 58,000-ton German ship Vasco da Gama has 1,258 passengers as it enters Fowey – more than half the town’s population of 2,315.
The monster ship, operated by Nicko Cruises, has been dubbed an eyesore by some for dominating the little port at the mouth of the river Fowey, near St Austell.
Others are concerned for the added pollution being pumped into the air.
However, Fowey’s Harbour Master Captain Paul Thomas said the ship was a ‘big deal’ for tourism in the town.
