A longtime Texas megachurch pastor was ousted from his job over ‘moral failure,’ church leadership told congregants.

Tony Cammarota, 51, was an associate pastor at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco for 17 years before he was fired on July 7.

Church leadership said he confessed to a ‘moral failure’ and ‘sin’ that disqualifies him from working there, according to an email obtained by blogger and watchdog Amy Smith.

Stonebriar did not specify what Cammarota’s failure was, but advised members to avoid discussing the matter.

‘Please guard against giving the Devil any foothold for more damage to our church through unnecessary speech and speculation,’ church leadership said.

‘This is a say day and we don’t want the Devil making it worse through any one of us in the days ahead.’

The father-of-four obtained his Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2002, according to his LinkedIn.

He runs a blog called Playing for Glory where he writes about a biblical worldview in sports and play.

DailyMail.com has contacted Cammarota, Stonebriar and Frisco police for comment.

Over 3,700 people attend the non-demon national church weekly and an additional 11,000 participate online, according to Stonebriar’s website

Smith told NBCDFW the church’s warning not to speculate over Cammarota’s removal only adds to suspicion.

‘I was stunned at the warning at the end of the statement. Had it just simply been a termination for moral failure, without a warning not to talk about it, I’m not sure it would’ve created such a public stir,’ she said.

‘It’s an emotional and spiritual manipulation to tell people that if they do have questions about the moral failure, that would be giving the devil a foothold.’

Cammarota’s removal is the latest in the string of pastoral firings across North Texas churches.

Evangelical pastor Dr. Tony Evans stepped down as senior pastor for the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas in June over an unknown sin he committed.

Pastor Robert Morris, the founder and senior pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, resigned from the megachurch after confessing to ‘inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady.’

Cindy Clemishire accused Morris of sexually abusing her in the 1980s, when she was just 12 years old.
