Alcaraz with a passing backhand down the line, called out, Alcaraz challenges again, and what must be his fifth or sixth unsuccessful one as replays showed it was very, very narrowly wide. 3-3 at the change of ends.

Brilliant from Alcaraz. He pushes and pulls Djokovic from side-to-side, glorious returning from Novak, but Alcaraz comes up and flicks in a drop shot, net. 4-3. ‘VAMOOOOSS!’, a pumped-up Alcaraz yells.

Djokovic tries to wrong-foot Alcaraz, but the Spaniard’s balance is so good and he whips a skiddy slice back to the Serb, taking the pace off it, and Djokovic then drags his shot wide. He smiles ruefully and humourlessly.
